Gateway opens gates of its new Playtime Casino in Wasaga Beach

One of the largest gaming and entertainment companies in Canada, Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, opens the doors of the new Playtime Casino Wasaga Beach. According to a company’s spokesman, the company invested $34.3 million in the Wasaga site to make the new facility home to the unforgettable player and fun experience.

Casino welcomed the first guests:

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited had the casino project approved by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) in 2012 and the casino facility has been under construction since then. But now that the casino in Wasaga Beach has opened to the public, the reels are finally turning and the virtual roulette tables spinning to welcome players aboard.

Playtime Casino Wasaga Beach opened on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. to welcome VIP guests led by the Wasaga Beach mayor and city council members for the first tour around the new Getaway’s house.

Corporate figures:

Gateway is one of the largest and most diversified gaming and entertainment companies in Canada with 30 gaming properties across the country. The operator currently employs approximately 7,000 people and operates around 339 table games (including 30 poker tables), 14,031 slots, 94 food and beverage outlets, and 561 hotel rooms.

The latest Gateway project, Playtime Casino Wasaga Beach, has employed proven development practices to match the level of quality expected by the growing customer base of the Canadian operator. Its spokesman Robert Mitchell informed that the investment amounted to $34.3 million to meet the company’s standard.

The casino spans almost 25,000 square feet and includes the proprietary Match Eatery and Public House family-friendly restaurant, as well as the gaming floor equipped with 231 slot machines and 12 iGaming tables simulating the table experience. The gaming floor contains the facial recognition surveillance feature.

Community benefits:

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment spokesman Robert Mitchell said that Playtime offers fun to both players and those looking for fun without gambling. The company will follow the Ontario government’s request to have representatives from the Responsible Gambling Council on-site to ensure responsible gaming practices. On the other hand, the new Playtime Casino Wasaga Beach will create 140 new jobs in the community.

The Council’s representative Dave Maynard said: “We help people to understand gambling within their means, and help people recognize when it starts to be a problem.” He added: ”There’s a misconception about slots, and people figure if they sit there long enough, they’ll win, but it doesn’t work that way.”

Fun and recreation:

However, the representative said that the Council is ”not against gambling.” Having toured the Wasaga casino, Maynard concluded: “We see it as a recreational activity that can be fun.”

The Playtime Wasaga Beach Casino will be open Sunday to Thursday from 10am to 2am and on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4am.
